Architectural Conservator

ARG Conservation Services is seeking an Assistant or Associate Conservator/Project Manager.  Based in San Francisco, ARG Conservation Services (ARG/CS) is a design-build firm specializing in the conservation and preservation of historically and culturally significant buildings, sites, monuments and collections within an historic building context.

The Assistant or Associate Conservator/Project Manager provides conservation expertise and contributes to the smooth, successful and profitable progress of assigned projects while maintaining the highest quality of conservation standards.

Duties may include but are not limited to conducting surveys; materials research; testing, mock-ups and conservation treatments; providing project documentation; performing treatments on buildings, sites, monuments, murals, or other cultural or historic materials; providing field oversight on projects; providing quality control, daily reports, coordination and communications with project team; keeping abreast of current professional and safety standards in the conservation and construction industry; and contributing to general office administrative duties.

M.A. or M.S. in architectural conservation preferred.  May consider other conservation specialties with experience in buildings, sites or monument contexts.   Minimum 4 years experience beyond a graduate degree.   Experience in skills and abilities as noted above.
