Curtain Going Up is a half-day program with presentations from our three member states: Arizona, California and Nevada.

Presentations will cover restoration, rehabilitation and reopening of historic theatres through the region with presentations from four organizations:



BROADWAY WEST: KEYNOTE

The Broadway Theater District in Downtown Los Angeles is the first and largest historic theater district listed on the National Register of Historic Places.


 

BEALE STREET THEATRE, AZ

The evolution of the Beale Street Theater (State Theater) into the Kingman Center for the Arts, Kingman, Arizona began in 1907.




 

RIALTO THEATRE, CA

The Rialto Theatre in South Pasadena, California is considered one of the last single-screen theaters in Southern California and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.


 

PIPER'S OPERA HOSUE, NV

Piper's Opera House has been a fixture in historic Virginia City, Nevada since 1876.


Everyone is welcome to join the event, members will enjoy a discounted rate ($25) and the non-member rate ($45) includes a membership for the remainder of the 2021-2022 period.


All proceeds to be donated to the participating theatre organizations.


As always, student registration is free of charge!
