Session Description:
The 2-hour tour and presentation will be led by the president of Judson Studios, David Judson. This will include a presentation on a history of the studio which is over 125 years old and has fabricated most of historic stained glass in Southern California. The presentation will also review stained glass restoration techniques and innovation of contemporary designs. It will also include a tour of both of their glass studios.
**Please anticipate a 10 minute walk between studios during the tour due to limited parking at their main studio. For those that need to ride by car in lieu of walking, please indicate in your registration and we can make arrangements.
**Also, please bring a lawn chair for the lunch. We will have lunch on site on an open lawn space, but no seating is provided.

About the Speakers: David Judson, President, JUDSON STUDIOS The current president, David Judson, is the fifth generation Judson family member to own and operate the studio. David and his team bring a 21st century sensibility and technological savvy to the revered craft of glassmaking. A supporter of the arts, like his great-great grandfather William Lees, David believes in maintaining a workplace that fosters creative expression. The studio hosts on-site art exhibitions, and our full-time staff and expanding community of global collaborators includes visionary artists who bring fresh eyes to the dynamic practice of stained and fused glass. Dick Gee, Lead Architect/Project Manager, SPECTRA Dick Gee is the Lead Architect, as well as a Project Manager, for Spectra Company, a construction firm specializing in historic buildings. He manages its Preservation Consulting Division. Dick previously acted as the Principal of the Los Angeles office for JAG Architects, and has worked on historic rehabilitation for over 30 years. Currently, Dick oversees preservation consulting, documentation and investigation services, design-build and special historic construction projects for Spectra, bringing both architectural and construction experience to each project. He started his preservation career working on rehabilitating buildings on Olvera Street, continued as the Preservation Architect for the El Capitan, and the historic buildings of both the Pechanga and Pala Tribes, and recently has worked on the rehabilitation of the San Gabriel Mission and Crystal Cove Beach Cottages. Dick has been awarded California Preservation Foundation, Los Angeles Conservancy, and other local preservation awards for numerous projects. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture degree from the University of California, Berkeley, is an AIA member, and a Leed Accredited Professional.
