WCAPT Welcomes you to join APTi Fellow Mel Green (structural engineer) for an open discussion on Mission San Gabriel and the ongoing efforts to restore the church that was so badly damaged by fire on July 11th, 2020.

Mel will be joined by architects, Bob Knight and Kaitlin Drisko, sharing photos of their work and delving into topics to include:

The fire damage - wood, steel and bracing

Emergency assessment, cleanup and protection

Gathering of documentation and new investigations - paint analysis to determine historic colors and layers

Restoration and repair details - period of significance, lighting and code review

This will be a fantastic opportunity for preservation professionals and other interested parties to learn more about the ongoing work.
