Join Another Planet Entertainment, EverGreene Architectural Arts, Page & Turnbull, Rainbow Waterproofing and Restoration Co., and WCAPT for the Castro Street Theatre restoration tour and decorative finishes workshop.
Built in 1922, this iconic theatre, designed by Timothy Pfluger, located in the Castro neighborhood of San Francisco serves as a cherished landmark and cultural space of the vibrant Castro district. The Castro Theatre celebrated its 100th Anniversary on June 22, 2022. In 2024, Another Planet Entertainment embarked on restoration efforts with the team of Page & Turnbull and EverGreene Architectural Arts.


CASTRO STREET THEATRE RESTORATION


PROGRAM: THURSDAY, JULY 10th
- 2:00 - 2:30 pm - Registration at Castro Street Theatre at entrance in the parking lot behind US Bank
- 2:30 - 3:30 pm - Castro Street Theatre Tour
- 3:30 - 4:00 pm - Transition to 600 Treat Ave., #622

4:00 - 6:00 pm - Decorative Finishes Workshop Synopsis:
Each attendee will get the chance to gild a 10" x 15" Mylar sample. These samples will be prepped with adhesive, ready for leaf application. After gilding, we'll apply a stencil that incorporates elements representing all parties involved, especially the Castro Theatre. Attendees will be welcome to take their finished samples with them. Additionally, a demonstration of wood graining techniques may be included.

TOUR GUIDELINES
EACH GROUP IS ALLOTED AN HOUR TO TOUR/EXPLORE THE VENUE.
THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF ATTENDEES IS "12" (WHICH INCLUDES SPEAKERS)
THE LIABILITY WAIVER MUST BE SIGNED UPON ARRIVAL/ENTERING THE VENUE. THE WAIVER IS AVAILABLE VIA QR CODE AT THE VENUE ENTRANCE WHICH IS NOW RELOCATED IN THE PARKING LOT BEHIND THE US BANK.
HARD HATS, VEST, AND PROTECTIVE GLASSES MUST BE WORN THE ENTIRE TIME YOUR ARE INSIDE THE VENUE AND RETURNED AT THE ENTRANCE.
PLEASE WEAR CLOTHES THAT WILL NOT BE NEGATIVELY IMPACTED BY DUST, AND WEAR COMFORTABLE CLOSED-TOE SHOES.
NOTE: THE CASTRO THEATRE IS A CONSTRUCTION SITE AND WILL INVOLVE CLIMBING STAIRS AND TRAVERSING UNEVEN FLOORS.
